Electrical, Electromechanical, Manufacturing Engineer- Contract £neg- Local to Portsmouth, Havant & Petersfield
My client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust manufacturing and quality processes and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Furthermore, to ensure that any issues relating to product manufacture, and returns investigation, are resolved in a methodical & responsive manner. Additional responsibility includes executing the organizations strategic plan consistent with regulations, established industry standards, and customer requirements. An existing knowledge and experience of Electrical testing is highly desirable.
The role will require liaison with external parties such as customers and suppliers, thus travel within and beyond the UK travel may be expected. The role will also require permitted access to ITAR sensitive data.
The main duties will be to act as liaison between the Manufacturing Cell and other groups (including Aftermarket Product Support , Customer Services, Engineering, Customers and Suppliers), for Manufacturing and Quality Engineering issues throughout the product lifecycle and to participate in New Product Introduction projects, utilize Advanced Product Quality Planning and other tools to ensure internal and external product and process requirements are met;
Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining robust, cost efficient manufacturing processes consistent with Lean Manufacturing methodologies and to utilize Six Sigma and other statistical methodologies to evaluate and reduce product, people and process variation and then measure, monitor and analyses customer and productivity metrics, participate in and lead teams to continuously improve performance.
The right candidate will have strong technical problem solving skills to solve technical product / process and business process problems utilizing structured approaches such as 8D, Six Sigma etc and be educated to degree level, preferably in an Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering discipline/ within a manufacturing engineering role or minimum 3 years relevant industry experience, Have some knowledge of hydraulics or pneumatics and possess a thorough understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning techniques - i.e. pFMEA, Critical to Quality Characteristics, Control Plans etc.
