Randstad Engineering are currently looking for a Mechanical Technician to work for a leading OEM based in the West Midlands. The purpose of this role is to build, prepare, service and maintain prototype vehicles / bucks to facilitate both whole vehicle & component testing in line with design verification programme objectives of all future product. Key Responsibilities & Tasks: * Preparation & shakedown of prototype vehicles/bucks for DVP testing, attribute sign-off events, mileage accumulation. * Carry out servicing and safety checks on prototype vehicles. * Support prototype test vehicles whilst on test, both in the UK and abroad. * Manufacture /sub-assembly of relevant components * Assembly of components and fit to vehicle / buck in sequence of build and to process planning sheets or work request sheet. * Will have experience working with Hybrid or Electric vehicles or working with High Voltage systems in Automotive applications The post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Company’s objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post. Qualification & Experience: * Full Apprenticeship (Motor Vehicle background) ideally to HNC level * Experience of working with Prestige Vehicles * Work experience preparing and supporting Prototype test vehicles. * Understanding of computer systems and software including MS Word & Excel. Qualification and Experience * Minimum Degree level in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience. * Extensive experience gained within automotive industry (or similar), preferably with a broad range of experience, particularly within BIW design and delivery. * Experience in BIW is essential, including a knowledge of relevant legislation & manufacturing techniques (e.g. Sheet Moulding Compound & Metal Pressings). * Experience of working in high pressure pre-production and launch situations * Good ability to clearly present information to all levels in the organisation. * Knowledge of NX an advantage * Knowledge and experience of Failure Mode Avoidance techniques * Must be able to work well in a group but can also lead a team. * Driving licence, Medical clearance to drive company vehicles Randstad CPE values diversity and promotes equality. Lead the design, release, and sign off of Slip Control Systems Key Responsibilities and Tasks • Work with Vehicle Dynamics to meet attribute targets and achieve freeze dates. • Lead brake actuation development for components related to driver inputs. • Develop Brake actuation software to aid in component selection for driver controls. • Analyse the suitability of ‘parts bin’ components. • Manage Suppliers to ensure parts are delivered on time to the required quality standard • Work closely with Manufacturing and Launch to enable swift and accurate fitment of components to vehicles. • Lead the Design Verification and Sign Off reporting.
