A leading NHS organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Safeguarding Adults professional for a period of 6 months on an interim basis, with a start date in March 2020.
Provide expert professional knowledge in all issues relating to the care of adults at risk and MCA and be the designated professional for Safeguarding Adults and MCA Lead across the local Health Economy;
The Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Adults is responsible for providing expertise, professional leadership, advice, support and expert guidance in respect of safeguarding, adult protection, Domestic Abuse, Mental Capacity Act (MCA), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), the Prevent agenda and LeDeR (Learning Disability Mortality review) to the localised Health Economy;
The Designated Nurse is the designated professional with strategic and professional leadership for the Mental Capacity Act within the Clinical Commissioning Group as well as being responsible for providing support and advice to clinicians in individual cases and supervision to staff in areas where these issues may be particularly prevalent and/or complex;
Support on all aspects of the health service contributing to the safeguarding of adults at risk. This will involve working closely with other CCGs, NHS England, the Local Safeguarding Adult Board, Local Authority, Primary Care, NHS Provider trusts (acute, mental health and community) and other relevant statutory and 3rd sector organisations, who are commissioned to provide services to adults;
Provide strong professional leadership to assess current arrangements, and inform the long term strategic direction for safeguarding adults; and by working with commissioned services will be able to assure the CCG that providers have in place the strategies and plans to safeguard vulnerable people and are fulfilling their responsibilities in line with the contract and national legislation and guidance.
A successful candidate will have:
Registered Nurse qualification, evidence of current registration;
Substantial specialist knowledge of safeguarding adults and Mental Capacity Act acquired over a significant period;
Experience of working in a senior safeguarding/MCA lead capacity with highly developed specialist knowledge;
Understanding of safeguarding in the reformed NHS and the role of commissioners. providers and NHS England.
