Senior Engineer - Vehicle Dynamics (Brakes & Steering) required on a contract basis to join an industry leading Automotive business. Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at the forefront of automotive technology? Do you have a background strategically controlling and coordinating the development of components and systems? You will play a key role in delivering vehicle dynamics projects within the group with a key responsibility for brakes and steering. Key responsibilities: * Hands on technical delivery of vehicle dynamics development projects to cost, quality and time * Specific responsibility for brakes and Steering development * To ensure brake and steering systems development is in line with VTS's, DVP's, test procedures and project plans. * Plan, co-ordinate and deliver vehicle development activities as defined by the vehicle development programmes * Report on test findings via both summary and formal reports and where necessary co-ordinate activities to identify root cause and resolution of issues * Develop specific test procedures and processes as required * Liaise with and control offsite test activities both remotely and in person * Maintain continuous communication with management, design and CAE teams throughout development process Experience required: * Mechanical or Automotive Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a similar role. * Capable vehicle dynamic subjective assessment skills. * Experience of developing vehicle dynamics performance specifically brakes and steering. * A level of theoretical understanding for brake sizing together with physical brakes testing * Practical experience of vehicle dynamics brakes and steering (HPAS) development. * Brake test procedures including processing and interpretation of brake tests results. * Experience of European vehicle dynamics test facilities including Nardo, Nurburgring, IDIADA and low Mu facilities * An good understanding of vehicle attributes * A high level of driving ability focussed around road vehicle development. * A methodical and scientific approach to problem solving. * Automotive experience of several vehicle brake and steering development projects * Team player, outgoing personality, confident, organised, self motivated * Good communication and presentation skills. * Good written and spoken English. * Full UK driving licence * A High level PC skills expected (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint and Project This is an awesome opportunity to be part of a leading manufacturing business which offers an interesting, varied and exciting workload coupled with a motivated and passionate culture. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within plastic fabrication. The day to day task will include but will not be limited to; * Cutting and prepping. * Welding. * Fitting of window locks, doors and tilt turns. * Beading. You will be expected to work to a high quality controls as part of a team. The working hours will require some flexibility from candidates in busy periods. Working hours as standard – Monday – Friday 6am-2:30pm. However during busy periods candidates will be expected to stay as late as 5pm as well as working on a Saturday (6am-10am).
