The Role & Responsibilities We are looking to appoint an Electrical Engineer on a contract basis who shall initially work on a telecommunications infrastructure project. Follow-up work on other projects is possible - mainly within the water industry throughout the UK. We are ideally seeking a degree qualified Electrical Engineers who is preferably chartered with the IET. The initial work is building services related work including small power, lighting, ventilation, electrical distribution and security and fire alarm systems. The successful applicant will join a small team in Glasgow working mainly on water related projects including M&E. The current team are involved in a wide-ranging role which could include (project dependent) design, bid preparation, specification and tender preparation, site asset surveys, energy efficiency green development strategies as well as part-time site supervisory roles on both clean and waste water construction sites schemes. Working alongside and supplementing the work of a graduate engineer and reporting to the lead disciple engineer the successful applicant will be responsible for working within the project teams and provide complete electrical solutions. There is a likelihood of opportunities for further work. The successful applicant responsibilities on the initial project shall be generally as follows:- o Electrical design o Technical and Performance Specification preparation. o Producing initial drafts and thereafter reviewing CAD outputs re SLD drawings, small power and lighting and, cable management system o Able to ensure compliance with current industry standards and to work with all stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. o Able to produce clear and concise written documentation for operational staff who undertake ongoing operation and maintenance of plants. Qualifications o BEng in Electrical Engineering (dependent on experience an HND may be acceptable). . o Able to demonstrate an understanding of electrical design within the building services and ideally water industry (both wastewater and clean water structure) including an understanding of operation and control functions within MCC panels as well as ICA equipment. The applicant shall be able to carry out electrical design and cable calculations as well as having an understanding of control and automation systems. o Knowledge in HVAC systems would be beneficial. o An understanding of Health and Safety, DSEAR and HAZOP requirements, including safety requirements within the water industry. o Ability to understand P&IDs and be able to produce single line diagrams for electrical distribution systems as well as have experience in producing electrical specifications. Evidence of this will be required at interview. o Good communication skills and computer literacy including Word, Excel,..
