Useful client group experience we would look for in a Care Assistant would include Dementia, Alzheimer's and caring for older people. It would be preferable if you have experience of Peg Feeding, Administering Medication, Epilepsy Awareness, Mild Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and/or Physical Disabilities. Care Assistants typical duties will involve assisting the residents to bathe, get dressed, prepare light meals, assist in feeding and undertake social activities. You may also accompany the individuals in the community and attend appointments, or just be there to provide companionship throughout the day. You must be willing to work across a rota pattern which may include some weekend and evening work. You should be physically fit due to the need for safe moving & handling of residents, occasionally using equipment to assist you (e.g. hoists or wheelchairs) and you should therefore have up to date Moving & Handling training.
