Senior Network Architect - £600-£650 per day - Outside IR35 - Primarily remote - 3 month initial engagement.
My client, a leading engineering company working towards zero carbon, affordable energy, is looking for a highly skilled Network Architect with extensive experience in designing and implementing scalable on-premise networks. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping my clients network infrastructure, ensuring that it meets the demands of their business-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise: Leverage your deep understanding of network technologies such as LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, data centre LAN, software-defined networks, telephony, mobile solutions, unified communications, network management solutions, and network-specific security to design and implement robust solutions.
Technology Research & Assurance: Conduct research into new technologies and solutions, ensuring that all implementations meet appropriate levels of assurance.
Program Management: Plan, direct, and coordinate activities related to network architecture, engaging with stakeholders to manage and implement network-related programs.
Vendor & SLA Management: Establish and agree on Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with third-party vendors and collaborate closely to deliver network solutions.
Collaboration & Delivery: Work closely with third-party vendors and internal technical staff to ensure systems are practically designed, delivered, and aligned with organizational goals.
Standards & Architecture: Develop and maintain on-premise network standards and reference architectures to ensure consistency and reliability across all network implementations.
Key Selection Criteria:
Technical Integration: Strong understanding of integrating on-premise networks with a variety of infrastructure components, including servers, storage, hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI), and IoT.
Documentation & Governance: Proficient in creating both formal and informal artefacts to govern and document configuration and design aspects, ensuring adherence to just-in-time and just-enough architecture principles.
Communication Skills: Excellent ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical staff. Capable of appropriately challenging suppliers and stakeholders to validate requirements and proposed approaches.
Presentation Skills: Skilled in delivering formal and informal presentations to a range of stakeholders, clearly explaining design decisions, rationales, and the associated pros and cons.
Knowledge & Skills:
Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams and suppliers in the design, implementation, administration, and support of network infrastructure solutions and services.
Governance: Ability to evolve and define governance in line with company architectural policies, and support wider governance initiatives.
Technical Tools: Experience using standards, guardrails, and principles to effectively govern network delivery.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal qualifications in the technical arena, such as CCNA, CCIE, or other comparable vendor certifications, are highly desirable
