What
Tasked with an important maritime defence project, in North Devon, our client now require the services of an experienced GRP Project Engineer, to join their 10 man team at their client's facility.
Weekly Duties and Responsibilities
* Review new drawings which are frequently updated in a secured portal.
* Liaise with the site lead and/or experienced fabricators. Create a plan for each job.
* Write detailed work instructions using the our client's template.
* If additional safety considerations or special equipment/materials required outside the norm, send requirements to the site lead.
* Oversee jobs / help with onsite measurements etc for the team.
* Inspect jobs and personally sign them off with the customer once completed to the agreed standard.
* Occasionally lead the team when the site lead is not available = adapting risk assessments / recording any near misses or incidents / allocating manpower between jobs / checking working times are adhered to / collecting deliveries / procurement.

Essential Criteria
* Good understanding of Fibreglass Hand Layup and marine repairs.
* Comfortable in a busy shipyard environment. Onsite presence is required.
* Strong IT competency. Able to work with large Excel datasets and surveys.
* Bachelors Degree in a relevant STEM discipline OR a HND in an Engineering subject and associated industrial experience.
* Minimum 2 years experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment.
* Full UK (or EU) passport. Right to work in the U.K.
* Must pass criminal background check and BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard).
* Must sign Official Secrets Act.
* Good people skills, able to liaise closely with fabricators.
* Comfortable with infrequent work in confined spaces such as tanks.
Desirable Criteria
* Understanding of Def-Stan GRP repairs for ships.
* Project management experience.
* Personal face-fitted mask, safety boots.
* CAD skills suitable for drafting technical drawings, or good hand sketching competency. N.B. All drawings that are passed to the customer will be formatted by our client's Design Engineers.
Package
* Notable professional growth: Gain significant experience on a sizeable and distinguished GRP project in the marine and defence sectors
* Rate: £25 per hour
* Subsistence Allowance: £29 per full day onsite.
* Accommodation: Can be provided in a nearby serviced apartment with shared facilities.
* Working Hours: 40 hours per week guaranteed. Flexibility for shorter or longer hours = To be pre-agreed with management.
* Duration: February 2025
