£20.00 per hour Contract
Monday - Friday.
Feltham, West London with travel to multiple sites in the borough of Hounslow.
Clean Driving License Required
Purpose of the role,
The Glazier is responsible for providing a high quality, customer, and quality focused service involving measuring, installing and repairing glass in houses, shops and offices, within the London Borough of Hounslow, ensuring the correct and appropriate glass for the job is used, as well as removing old and broken panes, and ensuring glass is sealed to be watertight.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Carpentry/ Glazing / UPVC
Set glass doors into frames and bolt metal hinges, locks, handles and other hardware to attach doors to frames and walls using a level
Install pre-assembled wood or metal frameworks for doors and windows before glass panel installation using hand tools
Cut, put together, measure or install metal frames and enclosures for glass panels in various areas and structures, including bathtubs, showers, display cases, solariums and skylights
Read and understand blueprints and specifications to know necessary work details, including color, shape, size, type and thickness of glass to be installed, framing location, procedures for installation and any scaffolding or other staging items needed before beginning work
Unload tools and equipment safely, and use suction cups or cranes to lift out glass panels
Cut and remove old and broken glass before installing replacement glass
Pack loose areas between glass panels and molding or frames with glazing compound, and trim excess material with a glazing knife
Lift, hold and secure glass panels and mirrors into position with putty, cement, screws or bolts
To perform all the duties associated with a fully qualified Carpenter/Glazer/ UPVC engineer.
To undertake work to a high level of proficiency.
General:
* To display a high level of customer care when dealing with tenants and leaseholders and contribute positively towards a high-quality customer focused service.
* To promote customer satisfaction by working in a clean and tidy manner ensuring minimal disruption to residents during a repair.
* To ensure all tools and materials and any associated debris are removed from sites following repairs and homes and communal areas left in a clean and tidy state.
* To always ensure the safety of oneself and others by working within the companies Health and Safety policy and procedures associated with repair works.
* Understand all PPE and the specific uses of equipment
* To be responsible for managing stock and ensuring materials required for daily runs of works are collected in advance to avoid unnecessary delays.
* To maintain the cleanliness of vehicles and ensure tools and equipment are checked regularly to ensure they remain safe and fit for purpose.
* Ensure accurate and timely completion of all paperwork/electronic updates within agreed timescales.
* As required, to work in work streams within other sections of the Contracts Team. This includes working to competing deadlines, moving jobs at short notice ensuring properties are left in a safe and tidy manner.
Education & Qualifications Required:
* City & Guilds/NVQ 2-3 equivalent relevant experience.
* A full, clean driving licence
Previous Experience and Skills Required:
* Minimum three years’ experience in commercial glazing
* Ability to lift heavy loads
* To be able read, understand and interpret risk assessments and method statements
* Understanding and working knowledge of Schedule of Rates coding
* Operate company ICT systems and hardware to receive and manage daily work schedules.
* Use of own hand & power tools commensurate with the work
* To be able to meet pre-determined deadlines and performance targets
* Able to interpret and complete works from plans, specification, and drawings
* Previous experience of working in a Social Housing Repairs environment.
* Good level of numeracy, literacy, written, oral and communication skills
