About the role:
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in managing challenging behaviours to support children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. In this role, you will work closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and support staff to create a calm and structured environment for children with behavioural difficulties. You will play a key role in helping children develop social, emotional, and behavioural skills, supporting them both in the classroom and during unstructured times such as break and lunch. This is a full-time, long-term position that requires patience, empathy, and a positive attitude. You will be working with children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping to implement strategies that promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
Application Requirements:
• Experience working with children with challenging behaviours or SEN in a primary setting.
• Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well within a team and follow direction from the SENCO and class teachers.
• A caring and nurturing approach with a commitment to helping children overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting children with challenging behaviours on a 1:1 or small group basis.
• Assisting in the implementation of individual behaviour management plans.
• Working closely with teachers and the SEN team to ensure progress in both academic and social settings.
• Helping children develop coping strategies and positive social interactions.
• Providing emotional support and promoting positive mental health.
