Job Overview:
Our client are a leading facilities management / professional services company and are seeking a skilled Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to join their team in Central London. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and upgrading mechanical and electrical systems across a range of client sites. This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the UK's most recognized companies, delivering high-quality M&E services in the heart of London.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repair: Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, lighting, power, and plumbing systems.
Fault Finding & Diagnostics: Identify and diagnose faults in mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring timely and effective repairs are carried out to minimize downtime.
Installation & Upgrades: Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical and electrical systems, as well as upgrades to existing systems.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in line with their health and safety policies and UK regulatory requirements, including risk assessments and method statements.
Client Liaison: Maintain positive relationships with clients, addressing their needs and providing professional advice on system improvements and cost-effective solutions.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and any system modifications for compliance purposes.
Energy Efficiency: Identify opportunities for improving energy efficiency and cost savings across client sites, advising on sustainable solutions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Educational Background: NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in a mechanical and electrical engineering role, preferably in facilities management or building services.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and plumbing. Experience with fault diagnosis, repairs, and installation of M&E systems.
Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and best practices including BS7671, F-Gas, and LOLER.
Certifications: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations or similar qualifications would be an advantage.
IT Skills: Competency in using building management systems (BMS) and maintenance software.
Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Problem-Solving: Analytical and proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
