Design Manager (Contract, Part-Time)
We are currently seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team on a 4-month contract, with the potential for extension. This is a part-time position, ideally for 2-3 days a week. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience and possess strong knowledge of the Design and Build (D&B) process.
While senior-level experience isn't required, we are looking for someone who can confidently manage the design coordination process, ensure collaboration among all project stakeholders, and drive the design to completion within set timelines and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and manage the Information Release Schedule (IRS) to align with project milestones.
* Liaise and coordinate with Architects and Engineers to ensure smooth communication and alignment of project goals.
* Manage design workflow using Viewpoint 4P (online document collaboration platform) to streamline document sharing and collaboration.
* Coordinate and manage client feedback and comments, ensuring changes are reflected in the design process.
* Arrange and lead design team meetings involving all stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
* Manage subcontractor design packages (e.g., joinery, MEP, sprinklers) and ensure they are integrated into the overall design.
* Liaise with Building Control, Acousticians, and Fire Engineers to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.
* Oversee the design process with a focus on commercial, contractual, programme, and technical aspects.
* Advise the team and client on their obligations during the design development process.
* Ensure all design information is delivered with high quality, in line with the project schedule.
* Strive to eliminate health & safety and financial risks during the design process.
* Ensure the design adheres to current legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Design Manager or related role.
* Proven experience and knowledge of the D&B design process.
* Strong organisational and communication skills to manage multiple stakeholders and design teams.
* Proficiency in Viewpoint 4P or similar document management systems.
* Experience in managing subcontractor design packages and coordinating with various trades.
* Familiarity with building regulations, health and safety practices, and risk management in design.
Additional Details:
* Contract Duration: Initially 4 months, with the possibility of extension.
* Working Hours: 2-3 days per week.
* Day Rate: Competitive, based on experience.
