Job Title: Support Worker
Location: Exeter/Torquay Area
Salary: £14.45 per hour
Contract: 3 Months, 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Rota - over 7 days a week
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team on a 3-month contract, working with veterans who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. As part of a supportive and dynamic team, you will be responsible for providing holistic, solution-focused care to help clients rebuild their lives and work towards greater independence.
You will be managing a caseload of 5 to 8 customers at any one time, allowing you to deliver high-quality, personalized support. This role will be challenging, but deeply rewarding as you assist clients with moderate to high support needs in the Exeter/Torquay area. Our team takes pride in helping individuals achieve their goals and fostering their ability to live independently.
You will work closely with other agencies to address specific needs such as mental health, substance misuse, benefits, and housing. Your duties will also involve exploring options related to education, training, and employment. An essential part of the role includes writing, reviewing, and updating support plans and risk assessments, while maintaining a proactive approach to risk management.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide solution-focused support to veterans at risk of or facing homelessness.
Manage a caseload of 5 to 8 customers, providing tailored, high-quality care.
Collaborate with external agencies on issues such as mental health, substance misuse, and housing.
Develop and maintain detailed support plans and risk assessments.
Foster independence by encouraging clients to achieve their goals and aspirations.
Promote a positive, holistic approach to supporting clients with complex needs.
Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as part of a rota schedule.
About You:
Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds with varying support needs.
Proven ability to apply common sense and accountability to risk management and decision-making.
Strong record-keeping skills with the ability to develop action plans.
Confidence in building positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
Ability to work independently and within a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach.
Experience working with vulnerable individuals or those with complex needs is desirable (D).
Knowledge of housing-related support and an understanding of the daily challenges faced by homeless individuals is desirable (D).
NVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant field is advantageous (D).
Essential Requirements:
A good level of literacy and numeracy.
Relevant safeguarding certifications.
Willingness to work outside normal office hours as needed.
Clear understanding of diversity and sensitivity when working with vulnerable populations.
Ability to create constructive relationships and promote self-determination.
