About the role:
We are searching for a dedicated Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to join an incredibly diverse and vibrant primary school located in the heart of Hackney, London. This part-time role will offer you the chance to support young students in their journey to overcome language barriers while ensuring they thrive in their learning. As a Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant (EAL), your primary responsibility will be to support students with English as an Additional Language. You will work closely with the classroom teachers to implement tailored intervention strategies, helping children overcome language challenges so they can fully engage with the curriculum.
You’ll be hands-on with small group interventions, 1:1 support, and classroom assistance, ensuring that no student is left behind. Whether helping a child grasp a new English phrase or reinforcing key lessons in math or literacy, your work will be key to their development.
Application Requirements:
• Prior experience working with children in an educational setting.
• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills are a must.
• Experience supporting students with EAL needs is highly desirable.
• Flexibility and creativity in your approach to teaching and intervention.
• A proactive and enthusiastic attitude, ready to take on new challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to Key Stage 1 students, with a focus on those learning English as an Additional Language.
• Tailor intervention programs to help children overcome language barriers and boost their confidence.
• Collaborate with teachers to ensure students are making progress academically and socially.
• Assist in the planning and delivery of creative and engaging lessons.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, helping them feel comfortable and supported.
