Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Lead to oversee and manage the commercial aspects of a significant project portfolio worth £15-20 million. Working within the electrical networks sector, this role will involve full commercial responsibility from pre-contract to post-contract stages, ensuring the delivery of critical infrastructure projects under the NEC3 form of contract and managing Early Warning Notices (EWN). The successful candidate will drive commercial success while maintaining high standards of project management and collaboration with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Portfolio Management: Manage and oversee the commercial aspects of infrastructure projects within the electrical networks sector, ensuring profitability, risk mitigation, and successful delivery of project milestones across a £15-20 million portfolio.
Pre and Post Contract Management: Lead the full cradle-to-grave lifecycle of contracts, from initial tendering and procurement to project completion and post-contract assessments.
NEC3 Contract Expertise: Ensure all projects are delivered under NEC3 contractual frameworks, providing expert guidance on the management and implementation of these contracts in an electrical networks context.
EWN Management: Proactively manage risks through Early Warning Notices (EWN), ensuring the project teams respond effectively to potential issues and challenges.
Cost Control and Financial Reporting: Monitor budgets, costs, and financial progress of projects. Provide regular reports and forecasts to senior management and clients, highlighting risks, opportunities, and project performance.
Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultants, ensuring clear communication and collaborative working practices tailored to the electrical infrastructure sector.
Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage project risks in alignment with company and contractual requirements, ensuring continuity of services in line with regulatory and operational standards.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor junior members of the commercial team, promoting development and fostering a high-performance culture.
Qualifications and Skills:
Proven experience in a Commercial Lead or similar role, managing projects with a portfolio size of £15-20 million.
NEC3 contract management experience is essential.
Experience with Early Warning Notices (EWN) and managing risks within complex infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of pre and post-contract processes.
Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with experience in the electrical networks or infrastructure sectors.
Strong financial acumen with experience in cost control, budgeting, and reporting.
Ability to lead and develop a team, fostering a culture of success and growth.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
Experience within the electrical infrastructure, construction, civil engineering, or utilities sectors.
Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar
