We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to work on a permanent basis for our client who are a well-established company based in St Helens, Merseyside.
The Package and work pattern for the Mechanical Engineering Technician role:
Working hours: Average of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
-Salary: £43,818 - £46,124 per annum
-On Call Allowance: £1,039 per annum
-25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
-Gainshare Bonus Scheme (based on business targets, not guaranteed)
-Group Personal Pension Plan with up to 8% employer contribution
-On-site parking
-Cycle to work scheme
Key Responsibilities for the Mechanical Engineering Technician role:
-Perform planned preventative maintenance activities to maximise plant reliability
-Conduct fault finding and diagnostics in emergency breakdown or planned situations
-Modify and improve plant equipment
-Identify and eliminate hazards
-Engage in problem-solving activities
-Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation
-Support and contribute to site HSE initiatives
-Provide training and mentoring to apprentices and colleagues
-Use SAP CMMS system to record maintenance activities and parts used
-Join the 1-in-9 on-call team to provide out of hours coverage
Key Relationships for the Mechanical Engineering Technician role:
-Engineering department colleagues
-Supervision and members of other areas
-Apprentices and colleagues (for training and mentoring)
Required Competencies for the Mechanical Engineering Technician role:

Essential Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineering Technician role:
-Completed relevant Engineering Apprenticeship
-NVQ Level 3 qualification
-Proven experience within a similar Technical role
-Mechanical Engineering background
Desirable Qualifications:
-Experience with float glass production processes (not explicitly stated, but implied from the job description)
-Familiarity with SAP CMMS systems
