Job Description
Working for the Manufacturing Manager and with the Team Leaders, you could be responsible for the Stripping of the Small Gas Turbines to their sub-assembly component levels and the onward stripping of the sub-assembly components or the building and testing of the engine's combustion and associated components. You may be expected to work rotating Early and Late shift patterns.
How You'll Make an Impact
* Use tooling and measuring equipment, in association with engineering drawings and layouts, to a high tolerance level, you will ensure that all components are salvaged to the highest standard or built and tested IAW existing processes.
* Use lifting equipment and fixtures to complete this process and complete associated paperwork including the recording of code numbers to ensure components are within required lifting limits.
* You should be able to discuss issues clearly with supporting departments and complete handovers to your colleagues following on from you.
* You will be expected to maintain a high level of 5S to ensure the working area remains clean and tidy and submit process improvement ideas to support business continuous improvement initiatives.
* High standards of quality are a must both in your fitting and paperwork.
* Comply with both legal and company legislation and actively promote a healthy and safe working environment in line with company procedures.
* Flexibility in shift patterns and overtime is expected to support business and customer demands.
What will they do on a day-to-day basis?
engine to fix experience
customers coming in to see their engine being stripped
customer facing role so customer experience
measurements to be taken-tools are provided
Required skill set and previous experience/background.
Lifting and slinging
Strip clean and assess
Machine and engine build
Stripping those engines site on the sub assessments
Can they be repaired or binned? Decision Making.
What You Bring
* Previous fitter experience
* Trained or qualified as an apprentice or to an equivalent Mechanical NVQ level 3.
* Knowledge of dismantling and overhauling components desirable
* Excellent attention to detail to ensure components condition is as best it can be, post strip, to allow repair work, if required.
* Strong safety and quality driven mindset and collaborative teamwork approach.
About the Team
You will be working with other Fitters and for a Team Leader in either the GT Cell or the Strip area of Bay 1 in the Teal Park Workshop.
You will report to the Manufacturing Manager who manages the Engine Reclaim process, who in turn reports to the Head of the Service Workshop as part of the Lincoln Service Centre.
Essential vs Desirable
NVQ level 3 / Extended Diploma (Mechanical Engineering NVQ title would be along the correct lines but no maintenance / machinist title)
Apprenticeship certificate with unit breakdown (first page must be their qual title and result and second page needs to be their breakdown of units / modules completed)
Experience on gas turbines, field services
Lifting and slinging desirable but not essential
Palette experience.
