A Berkshire Local Authority is seeking an experienced Temporary Accommodation Lead to join their team on a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of managing temporary accommodation, a strong understanding of homelessness legislation (including the Housing Act 1996, Part 7), and experience of leading teams in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with the Interim Head of Service, overseeing a team responsible for providing temporary accommodation to those in need.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team responsible for sourcing, allocating, and overseeing temporary accommodation for homeless households.
Ensure all placements comply with legal requirements and meet the council's standards.
Oversee the day-to-day management of temporary accommodation, including void management, property inspections, and ensuring health and safety compliance.
Maintain accurate records and produce performance reports on voids, placements, and accommodation usage.
Liaise with external providers and partners to secure suitable accommodation options and manage service contracts.
