Job Duties
Designing electrical systems and components for engineering projects
Creating electrical schematics, diagrams, and layouts using computer-aided design (CAD) software
Collaborating with engineers and technicians to develop electrical designs that meet project requirements
Selecting appropriate materials, equipment, and components for electrical systems
Performing calculations and simulations to ensure the efficiency and reliability of electrical designs
Conducting feasibility studies and cost analysis for electrical design proposals
Preparing technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and manuals
Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and regulations
Ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve any design issues or challenges
Providing technical support and guidance during the implementation and testing of electrical systems
Keeping up-to-date with advancements in electrical design technologies and industry trends
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as an Electrical Designer or a similar role
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant electrical design tools
Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practises
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in design work
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Good time management and organisational skills
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Experience
5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in the engineering or military and defence industry
Knowledge and Skills
In-depth understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and components
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Proficiency in using electrical design software and tools
Knowledge of cost estimation and feasibility analysis
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications in electrical design or engineering
Experience with defence-specific electrical design projects
A degree or equivalent engineering experience
