Our client, a leading company in the environmental, manufacturing, and civil engineering sectors, is currently seeking a Commercial Project Accountant to join their team at Shoreham - By - Sea team on a contract basis. Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, this role is essential for the financial support and strategic decision-making in large programmes.
Job Requirements:
Fully qualified accountant - ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent
Proven experience supporting large scale projects with several performance obligations
Proven experience in revenue recognition and profit and loss accounts
Proven experience as a project accountant, preferably in a commercial role
Strong proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting
Sound understanding of balance sheet, profit & loss, and cash flow statements
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly to key stakeholders
Key Responsibilities:
Preparing accurate and timely financial reports on project performance, including forecasts, budgets, and actual results
Conducting variance analysis and highlighting key risks and opportunities to project stakeholders and senior management
Supporting the development of financial models for project cost and working capital management
Assisting in the preparation of project budgets and maintaining rolling forecasts
Monitoring and controlling project costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities
Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls
Acting as a financial business partner to project managers and other key stakeholders
Providing financial insights to drive strategic decision-making for project execution
Desirable Skills:
Background experience within a manufacturing or engineering organisation
Experience working in a PLC
Sound technical finance capabilities (IFRS) together with operational and commercial expertise
Competencies:
Flexible approach to working across multiple projects
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Highly organised with a structured working approach
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
High level of gravitas and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels
