Quantity Surveyor - Highways & Civil Works - Bury St Edmunds

Are you a skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in both highways and civil works?

We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented individual to join our team in Bury St Edmunds, working on a range of exciting and challenging projects involving highway improvements, maintenance, and associated civil works.

About the Role:

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the successful financial management and delivery of our projects. Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and maintaining accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for both highways and civil works projects.

Managing and negotiating contracts with sub-contractors and suppliers for both disciplines.

Monitoring project costs and identifying potential cost overruns for both highways and civil works components.

Implementing effective cost control measures for both highways and civil works projects.

Preparing and analyzing cost reports and providing regular updates to the project team and stakeholders.

Ensuring compliance with relevant contractual and legal requirements.

Assisting with the measurement and valuation of works for both highways and civil works.

About You:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on highways or infrastructure projects, with experience in civil works such as drainage, earthworks, and site preparation.

Strong understanding of highway construction principles and practices, as well as civil engineering principles and methods.

Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills.

Proficient in cost management software and tools (e.g., CostX, Asite).

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.

Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS) is desirable.
