Job Title: Business Analyst – Public Sector

Location: Hybrid - Must be able to travel 2 days per week onsite in either Manchester, Leeds, London, or Newcastle

Salary/Rate: Up to £450 per day INSIDE IR35

Job Type: 12 month contract – likely to extend

Security Clearance: SC Cleared or Eligible (Lapsed SC clearance is acceptable)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with an extensive background in working within the public sector/government clients. This role is focused on the Universal Credit programme, requiring deep expertise in business analysis practices and the ability to effectively collaborate with both digital and operations teams.

The ideal candidate must be a practitioner who thrives in a BA role, capable of clearly defining requirements and guiding stakeholders to ensure alignment with programme objectives. Experience with GDS (Government Digital Service) is highly desirable, as is an understanding of business architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Work closely with both digital and operations teams to gather, document, and clearly define business requirements.

2. Engage with stakeholders across the Universal Credit programme to ensure that solutions align with the organization’s objectives and regulations.

3. Facilitate discussions and workshops to capture detailed requirements and translate them into actionable deliverables.

4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless communication and project progression between technical and operational teams.

5. Ensure compliance with GDS standards (Government Digital Service) where applicable.

6. Provide expertise in business analysis best practices, acting as a key player throughout the project lifecycle.

7. Support project teams by offering insights and strategic guidance on business architecture and operational alignment.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience as a Business Analyst working with government clients.

2. Experience working on Universal Credit or similar large-scale public sector programmes.

3. A strong practitioner of BA methodologies, with the ability to lead on requirement gathering and stakeholder management.

4. Experience working across both digital and operations teams.

5. Knowledge and understanding of GDS standards is a plus.

6. Familiarity with business architecture principles is advantageous.
