About the role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism Spectrum Disorder Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with ASD in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Your main responsibility will be to provide one-on-one and group support, ensuring that students with autism can fully access the curriculum in a way that suits their individual needs. This will involve working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to deliver tailored interventions, track student progress, and implement behaviour support strategies. The role is full-time and long-term, offering you the chance to build strong relationships with the students and really make an impact on their educational journey. You’ll be working in a well-resourced environment where your input and expertise will be highly valued, and there will be plenty of opportunities for professional development.
Application Requirements:
• Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ideally within a primary school setting.
• A passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
• A proactive and flexible approach to working in a dynamic school environment.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
• Work closely with class teachers to deliver personalised learning plans and activities.
• Assist in managing challenging behaviours in a positive and constructive manner.
• Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment where students feel supported
• Provide feedback to the SENCO and teachers on student progress and areas for development
• Engage with parents, carers, and external specialists to support the holistic development of each student
