About the role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) with a specialism in SEMH to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brent, London. This full-time, long-term role offers a unique chance to work closely with children who need extra support, helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As an SEN TA specialising in SEMH needs, you will be working alongside teachers and other support staff to provide tailored interventions and one-on-one assistance to students facing SEMH challenges. Your role will be vital in creating a safe, supportive, and structured environment where students can build confidence, improve behavior, and excel academically.
Application Requirements:
• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN or SEMH setting.
• A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and flexible attitude.
• An understanding of the UK education system and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing targeted support to children with SEMH needs, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop positive social and emotional skills.
• Assisting the class teacher in managing classroom behavior and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for SEMH students.
• Working with small groups or one-to-one with students who require additional help to manage their emotions and behavior.
• Building strong relationships with students, fostering a sense of trust, respect, and inclusion.
• Monitoring and reporting on student progress to teachers, SENCOs, and parents, ensuring effective communication about each child’s development.
