Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs) - Supporting Non-Verbal Children with Learning Difficulties

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a team and support children with learning difficulties, particularly those who are non-verbal.

Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with classroom teachers to provide tailored support for non-verbal students with learning difficulties.

Use a variety of communication tools and methods such as Makaton, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), and assistive technology to engage and connect with students.

Assist in the development of individualised learning plans to help students achieve their academic and personal goals.

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring every child feels valued and supported.

Support children in both academic and social activities, helping them build confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers, therapists, and parents.What We're Looking For:

Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those who are non-verbal.

Knowledge of communication systems such as Makaton or PECS (training can be provided).

Patience, creativity, and a nurturing approach to supporting children's unique learning styles.

A team player with excellent communication skills and a strong sense of empathy.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.Qualifications:

Experience in SEN or a related field is preferred.

NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or a similar qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
