About the role:
We are seeking an empathetic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant specialising in Autism Spectrum Disorder to join our supportive team. In this full-time, long-term role, you will work closely with pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing essential support to children with ASD. You’ll help create an engaging, safe, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.
Whether you are supporting learning activities, managing sensory needs, or facilitating social interactions, your role will be crucial in helping students overcome challenges and achieve success. The successful candidate will be a compassionate, proactive individual who is ready to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children. Application Requirements:
• Prior experience working with children with ASD or other SEN needs, particularly within a primary school setting.
• A patient, compassionate, and nurturing approach to working with children who have complex needs.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
• The ability to follow individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt learning strategies to meet the needs of each child.
• Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs (desired but not essential).
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing 1:1 and group support for children with ASD, ensuring their learning needs are met.
• Assisting with the delivery of a creative, sensory-based curriculum tailored to individual pupil requirements.
• Working collaboratively with the class teacher to adapt resources and activities, enabling children with ASD to participate fully in all aspects of school life.
• Supporting students in developing essential life skills, including communication, social interaction, and independence.
• Assisting with personal care needs where required, following safeguarding procedures.
