Our Partner School in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, is dedicated to providing exceptional support and education for students aged 11 to 16 who experience challenges due to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We are looking for a committed SEN Secondary Teacher who is available from November onwards and is eager to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

SEN Secondary Teacher Job Overview:
The successful candidate will plan and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the diverse needs of our students with SEMH and ASD. You will coordinate daily teaching, assessment, and pastoral care for a small group of pupils, ensuring each child receives the support they need to succeed. Your collaboration with the SENDCo and local authorities will be essential in addressing the varied learning and pastoral needs of the pupils, helping them overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.
SEN Secondary Teacher Responsibilities:
Engage a small group of SEN pupils, adapting lessons to accommodate their unique learning styles and challenges.
Create a quality learning environment where all pupils can progress according to their Individual Learning Plans or EHCPs.
Collaborate closely with the SENDCo to monitor and enhance student development in social communication and overall well-being.
Provide pastoral support and guidance, ensuring the welfare of every student in your care.
Foster a positive and safe learning environment that encourages high expectations for behaviour and academic achievement.
Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, keeping them informed about their child's progress and celebrating their successes.
Oversee the daily needs of your small group of pupils, ensuring a smooth and effective learning experience.
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, supporting the overall learning environment.
Communicate with local authorities regarding funding, EHCPs, and pupil reviews, advocating for the best interests of your students.
SEN Secondary Teacher Requirements:
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Experience: Strong understanding of SEMH and ASD issues and their impact on learning and behaviour.
Skills: Ability to differentiate instruction and build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
