Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Head of Culture, Heritage, and Tourism to lead a dynamic service focused on enhancing the cultural, historical, and tourism landscape of this vibrant London Borough. The role requires strategic vision and operational expertise in developing and implementing innovative programmes and partnerships. With a hybrid working model, you will have the flexibility to manage projects both remotely and on-site as required.

Key Responsibilities:

1.

Service Leadership: Develop and deliver a comprehensive array of events, cultural, heritage, and tourism programmes, ranging from small to large-scale initiatives. Drive innovation to align with the Borough’s strategic priorities.

2.

Cultural Strategy Implementation: Oversee the delivery of the Borough’s inaugural Cultural Strategy in collaboration with internal and external partners, ensuring cohesive and impactful cultural development.

3.

Partnership Development: Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with cultural and creative organizations to foster a vibrant cultural sector. Key partners include Woolwich Creative District Trust, National Portfolio Organizations, and the Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust.

4.

Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with high-level stakeholders such as central government, Greater London Assembly, Arts Council England, and the private sector. Ensure a strategic approach to tourism and heritage development across the Borough.

5.

Policy Leadership: Drive policy development across events, culture, heritage, and tourism. Lead consultation, stakeholder engagement, and the implementation of policies that address the Borough’s needs.

6.

Service Development: Spearhead continuous improvement within the Culture and Events service, enhancing effectiveness and aligning with emerging trends and Borough goals.

Requirements:

* Proven experience in a leadership role within culture, heritage and tourism for a Large Local Authority.

* Expertise in strategy development, stakeholder management, and partnership building.

* Strong understanding of local government operations, with a focus on culture and tourism.
