About the role:
We are seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN-TA) specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder to join our supportive team, starting ASAP. This position is available due to a new addition to our team, reflecting our commitment to providing tailored support for our students. The role involves working closely with Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 students, many of whom have individual education plans (EHCPs), ensuring that they thrive in a nurturing learning environment. Candidates will undergo a two-stage recruitment process, which includes a face-to-face interview and participation in a trial day, allowing us to see firsthand how you engage with our students. Application Requirements:
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with a focus on supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Child Development are essential.
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly in English and Mathematics.
• Proven experience working in a primary school setting, supporting Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering tailored educational programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, adapting lessons and activities to meet individual learning needs.
• Work one-on-one and in small groups with students to reinforce learning objectives, helping them develop essential academic and social skills.
• Implement positive behaviour support strategies to promote a conducive learning environment, addressing any challenging behaviors with patience and understanding.
• Regularly assess and document students’ progress and well-being, providing feedback to teachers and parents to support each child’s development.
• Work closely with teachers, special educational needs coordinators (SENCOs), and other support staff to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students with special educational needs.
