Job Title: Sociology Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Location: Braintree, Essex
Salary Range: £140 - £230 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: January 2025
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Are you an enthusiastic and insightful Sociology teacher with a passion for exploring the intricacies of society, culture, and human behaviour? We are seeking a motivated and engaging Sociology Teacher for a maternity cover position in Braintree starting in January 2025.

About the role:
As a Sociology Teacher, you will inspire students' critical thinking and deepen their understanding of social structures and issues that shape our world. Join a supportive educational community dedicated to academic excellence and personal growth.

Responsibilities of the Sociology Teacher:

• Encourage students to dive into and broaden their understanding of Sociological concepts.
• Deliver engaging and thought-provoking Sociology lessons at Key Stages 4 and 5, encouraging students to critically analyse society and social behaviour.
• Develop lesson plans that foster debate, discussion, and analysis on relevant topics such as social inequality, cultural diversity, and globalisation.
• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Sociology exams, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the curriculum.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to promote academic growth.
• Cultivate an inclusive, positive classroom environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to participate.
• Collaborate with other faculty members to enhance the Social Sciences department and align teaching methods with best practices.
• Keep meticulous records of student achievements and progress

Requirements of the Sociology Teacher:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a background in Sociology or related field.
• Proven experience teaching Sociology at the secondary level, particularly at Key Stage 5.
• In-depth knowledge of the Sociology curriculum and examination requirements.
• Strong classroom management skills with the ability to inspire and engage students of diverse abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, with a passion for fostering students critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
• A commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
• An understanding of the UK education system and relevant curriculum standards.
• Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
