About the role:
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in working with challenging behaviours to join our team in Newham starting January 2025. This is a full-time, long-term role, perfect for a passionate and patient individual eager to help students with special educational needs thrive in a mainstream primary school setting. You will be working closely with students in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing tailored support to help them manage and overcome challenges in behaviour. Your role will be instrumental in building positive relationships and supporting these young learners in developing confidence, resilience, and independence.
Application Requirements:
• Experience in a similar SEN support role, particularly with challenging behaviours.
• Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and experience in their application.
• Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or similar.
• A positive, proactive approach and a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
• Ability to build trust and rapport with students, helping them to feel secure and motivated.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with challenging behaviours.
• Developing and implementing personalised support plans tailored to individual needs.
• Using de-escalation techniques and other positive behaviour strategies to support students.
• Working closely with the SENCo, class teachers, and parents to monitor and adapt support plans as required.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and helping students develop essential social and emotional skills.
• Assisting in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
