About the role:
We’re seeking a passionate and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to join our dedicated team. In this role, you’ll support children across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who may face social and emotional challenges. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on students’ lives by providing targeted, compassionate support that empowers them to succeed academically and socially. Your day-to-day will include working closely with teachers to develop tailored strategies, managing classroom behaviour, and creating a safe space for students to express themselves. Patience, resilience, and creativity will be key to helping each child navigate their unique challenges. Application Requirements:
• Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours.
• A strong understanding of SEN practices and strategies in primary education.
• Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred) or relevant experience.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, compassionate approach.
• Ability to work full-time from January 2025, with a commitment to long-term support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing 1:1 and group support to students with SEMH needs across KS1 and KS2.
• Working closely with classroom teachers and the SENCO to implement personalised learning plans.
• Encouraging positive social interactions and reinforcing behavioural expectations.
• Assisting in creating and adapting resources that help students engage meaningfully with the curriculum.
• Participating in team meetings and professional development sessions to continuously improve support strategies.
