Role Description
We are looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to manage a variety of structural alteration works projects across London. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structural engineering and contract management, with a strong understanding of the complexities involved in structural modifications. The role involves overseeing the delivery of structural alterations, managing contracts and project lifecycles, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, timelines, and safety standards. This is a critical role where you will work closely with internal engineering teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of structural alteration projects, from initial planning and design to final delivery, ensuring high-quality structural engineering solutions are implemented.
- Manage contractual agreements related to structural alteration works, ensuring compliance with all terms, including engineering specifications, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, closely monitoring project milestones and ensuring that structural works are completed on time and within scope.
- Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring that structural engineering costs are managed effectively, and projects are delivered within budget constraints.
- Liaise with clients, structural engineers, and subcontractors to ensure clear communication and coordination, addressing any issues related to design changes, engineering challenges, or contract adjustments.
- Lead negotiations to resolve disputes or contractual challenges related to structural works or engineering changes.
- Ensure that all projects comply with relevant health, safety, and structural regulations, with a focus on minimizing risk during alterations and refurbishments.
- Provide leadership to project teams, guiding engineers, subcontractors, and site teams in maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure that structural work aligns with design plans, engineering codes, and client specifications.
- Monitor the quality of structural materials and work to ensure compliance with building regulations and industry standards.
Qualifications / Experience
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Project Manager within structural engineering or construction, specifically in managing structural alteration projects.
- Extensive knowledge of structural design and alteration works, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong experience in contract management for structural works, with an understanding of construction contracts, risk management, and compliance.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management and cost control, specifically on structural alteration projects, including dealing with variations and unforeseen issues.
- Solid understanding of structural safety standards and building regulations, with the ability to enforce compliance across all project stages.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with engineers, clients, and subcontractors.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in leading teams and fostering a culture of collaboration and quality control on complex structural projects.
