We are seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN School based in the London Borough of Wandsworth. This is an immediate start position, subject to registration, with a competitive daily pay rate of £85 to £110, paid weekly. The role is full-time and non-negotiable, so part-time applicants will not be considered. This is a long-term temporary position with the potential for a permanent role for the right candidate, based on performance and success in the school.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to ensure they can access the curriculum and thrive in a supportive, inclusive learning environment. You will work with small groups or on a one-to-one basis to help students develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
Your key duties will include:
Liaising with the classroom teacher to identify the best ways to support students and implement tailored strategies
Conducting small-group interventions to support pupils with varying needs, including academic and social development
Assisting with reading, writing, and schoolwork to help students meet their individual learning goals
Preparing learning materials and resources to engage and support pupils
Supporting students to build communication skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication
Helping students with physical tasks (e.g., personal care, mobility) where necessary
Providing pastoral support and helping students with emotional and behavioural challenges
Promoting a safe and positive classroom environment where students feel comfortable and encouraged to participate
What We're Looking For:
Experience working in a school environment is essential
Experience supporting students with SEN or special needs is highly desirable, but not essential
A clear and enhanced DBS check or the willingness to obtain one
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents
Patience, empathy, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of students with SEND
Full-time availability (as part-time candidates will not be considered)
A positive, proactive attitude and a passion for supporting vulnerable students
