The Storage Platform Lead role focuses on designing proactive, scalable, and efficient storage solutions across multi-cloud and hybrid environments. The architect will support service delivery colleagues in resolving service issues and ensure the storage platform is optimized for performance, security, and growth. You will be tasked with designing, implementing, and overseeing scalable and secure storage solutions using technologies such as NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO), AWS FSx for NetApp ONTAP, Azure NetApp Files (ANF), and NetApp Flex Managed Service. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying storage needs, crafting solutions that align with business goals, and collaborating closely with service delivery teams to address issues and enhance storage performance. The architect ensures the storage platform runs efficiently, meets SLAs, and scales to match business needs.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Storage Solution Architecture & Design:
- Spearhead the design of cloud and hybrid storage solutions using CVO, FSx for NetApp ONTAP, ANF, and NetApp Flex Managed Service.
- Engage with stakeholders and IT teams to gather requirements, translating them into scalable, cost-effective storage architectures.
- Ensure designs follow best practices in terms of performance, security, data protection, and disaster recovery.
2. Proactive Storage Management & Optimization:
- Monitor storage usage trends, performance, and growth to anticipate future needs, ensuring scalable and efficient solutions.
- Set up proactive monitoring and alert systems to detect potential performance bottlenecks, capacity issues, or service interruptions before they impact operations.
- Continuously refine the storage infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and performance across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
3. Support for Service Delivery Teams:
- Collaborate closely with Fujitsu Service Delivery teams to provide guidance and insights for complex storage-related issues.
- Serve as an escalation point for storage platform incidents, ensuring prompt resolution to minimize business impact.
- Conduct training sessions to support service delivery staff in understanding storage technologies and troubleshooting.
4. Collaboration with Cloud & IT Teams:
- Work alongside cloud architects, network engineers, and IT operations teams to integrate storage solutions smoothly with the overall IT infrastructure.
- Manage relationships with vendors (e.g., NetApp, AWS, Microsoft), stay updated on new technologies, and handle vendor escalations as needed.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement disaster recovery plans, data protection strategies, and backup operations.
5. Capacity Planning & Governance:
- Plan for storage capacity to ensure current and future demand is met while optimizing resource allocation for performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain governance policies for data security, compliance, and regulatory adherence (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Create and maintain documentation for storage architectures, procedures, and troubleshooting guides to ensure effective knowledge sharing.
6. Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Explore emerging storage technologies and cloud services to enhance the storage infrastructure and drive innovation.
- Identify opportunities to automate storage provisioning, management, and reporting for increased efficiency.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Expertise in Cloud & Hybrid Storage Solutions: Extensive experience with NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO), AWS FSx for NetApp ONTAP, Azure NetApp Files (ANF), and NetApp Flex Managed Service.
- Cloud Infrastructure Proficiency: Knowledge of AWS and Azure platforms, with experience in designing hybrid storage solutions that integrate with on-premises systems.
- Proactive Problem-Solving Abilities: Skilled at anticipating storage challenges, developing resilient solutions, and resolving technical issues promptly.
- Service-Oriented Approach: Excellent collaboration skills to work with service delivery teams, providing support and technical guidance for storage-related issues.
- Technical Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively convey storage strategies, solutions, and challenges to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years in designing and managing storage systems, with a focus on cloud and hybrid environments.
- Certifications: NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
- Expertise in Data Protection: Knowledge of data protection, disaster recovery, and storage security practices.
- Familiarity with Storage Protocols: Understanding of protocols such as NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, and data management solutions.
