Finance Assistant (Part-Time) Primary School Tower Hamlets

An "Outstanding" Primary School in the Borough of Tower Hamlets are on the hunt for a Finance Assistant for an ASAP start. This position will initially run until January, on a Part-Time basis (Monday - Wednesday), with the possibility of making the move permanent.

What will the role of a Finance Assistant entail?

Ordering

• To input purchase orders onto RM Finance, monitor outstanding POs and query when payment will be made.
• To oversee the completion of orders where office to order has been indicated.
• To collect delivery notes for orders, attaching to the relevant Purchase Order.

Payment of accounts

• To maintain accurate financial records by inputting invoices, petty cash receipts and other items as required into the school accounts software package. Checking that payment has not been made already, prices are correct, and VAT is applied accordingly.
• Prepare payments accurately for the School Business Manager and Headteacher to countersign.
• Ensure all BACS and account details are kept up to date and amended when necessary, keeping evidence for audit purposes.

Income

• To ensure cash and cheques are stored securely. Oversee the counting of monies.
• To prepare all banking of income under the financial regulations and ensure safe custody of these funds to the bank.
• To manage ParentPay activity and liaise with parents for any outstanding balances.
• To ensure cash and cheques are stored securely.

General Finance Duties

• Assist SBM with any requirements regarding month end/year end procedures.
• To assist SBM in ensuring agreed financial procedures are adhered to and that policies and procedures support the effective implementation of financial management standards.
• To undertake day to day financial clerical tasks including filing, collation of documents, general telephone enquiries and general administrative duties as directed.
