My client are looking for a Health & Safety Adviser to work on their £900 million per year Capital Investment Programme based in the North of Scotland. This is a 12 month fixed term contract.
What you'll do
You'll be at the heart of improving Health & Safety (H&S) performance.
You'll work closely with internal stakeholders and construction partners to foster a strong, positive H&S culture. You'll help shape projects that span the mainland and the nearby Island communities, primarily in the North of Scotland, by providing critical H&S services and support to groups within our Capital Investment Programme.
As a key member of the team, you'll provide expert, cost-effective H&S advice, coaching, and guidance. This involves interpreting legislation, industry approved codes of practice, and best industry practices to ensure we are always legally complaint and meeting the highest standards. You'll also be deeply involved in client assurance, overseeing every phase of construction projects within our Capital Investment Programme. These projects vary in size, complexity, and duration and involve a mix of large joint ventures and smaller regional contractors.
You'll be working hand-in-hand with both internal teams and construction partners to ensure responsibilities are met under the Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations. You'll build strong relationships with stakeholders, leading efforts to improve H&S performance and foster a continuous positive culture. When incidents do happen, you'll help investigate and share lessons learnt to prevent future occurrences. Additionally, you'll play an important part in driving continuous H&S improvement by contributing to collaborative initiatives and providing insights during key safety processes, such as HAZOPs, HAZCONs, and process safety analysis.
What you'll need
You'll have knowledge of the construction and/or utility industry, particularly in project and risk management practices and controls. You'll also understand relevant H&S legislation and guidance, especially the Construction Design Management (CDM) Regulations.
You'll hold a NEBOSH General Certificate/ NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or equivalent. It would be a beneficial if you have, or are working towards, a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, but this is not essential. Another bonus would be if you hold an IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) membership or similar, though this is also not essential.
You'll have an ability to make decisions based on the analysis of information. This includes being confident in using Microsoft Office and similar software. While having recognised root cause analysis training would be a bonus, it's not essential for this role. Since you'll be working as a part of a high-performing team, a desire for personal development to unlock your full potential and achieve results through training and coaching is important.
You'll enjoy delivering fun and engaging presentations to large groups of people, and you'll be skilled at engaging and influencing key stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
It would be ideal if you're based in or within easy travelling distance of areas including Inverness, Tay, Perth and Kinross, Caithness, and Aberdeen.
Looking out for you
While the work we do is important, we know it's not the only thing that matters. That's why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.
You'll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays).
Performance-driven pay progression.
