Job Description

Our client is recruiting for a dedicated and motivated Yard Operative to join their team. Initially the role will be on the basis of a 6 month contract with potential to extend. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the yard area, assisting with shipping and receiving tasks, and ensuring that materials are handled efficiently.

The role is a full time position with shift patterns as below;

Week 1 - 6am - 2pm

Week 2 - 12pm - 8pm

There is no requirement for weekend work.

Responsibilities to Include:

• Communicate all relevant information / issues to the team leader.

• Able to follow and comply with Safe working Methods (SWM’s).

• Ensuring compliance with and adhere to all Health & safety policies including the correct use and wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Ensure finished material are safely loaded onto vehicles for onward shipment to customers.

• Unloading, Sort and prepare materials for onward processing.

• Maintain the yard and carrying out all activities required in this area.

• Maintain high levels of hygiene / house-keeping standards.

• Use of mobile plant including FLT’s, Telehandler, Excavator, Overhead crane (OHC) etc.

• Ensuring SOPs are adhered to for plant machinery.

• Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any mechanical issues.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse or yard environment is preferred.

• Experience driving and operating heavy machinery, in particular FLT's is a bonus

• Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 kg) consistently throughout the shift.

• Experience with materials handling equipment, including forklifts, is essential.

• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in managing inventory.

• A proactive attitude towards safety and teamwork is crucial for success in this role
