Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join our team at a welcoming primary school in Barry. This is a long-term role offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of the school.

Location: Lovely Primary School, Barry

Start Date: January

Pay Rate: £12 per hour

Hours: Split shifts (7am - 9am and 3:15pm - 4:45pm)

Key Responsibilities:

Opening and locking the school premises: Ensure the school is secure and ready for the day, including unlocking in the morning and securing the building after use.

General maintenance and repairs: Address minor maintenance issues promptly and liaise with external contractors when required.

Health and safety: Conduct routine checks to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including fire alarm tests and risk assessments.

Grounds maintenance: Keep the school grounds clean and tidy, including sweeping, clearing litter, and occasional gardening.

Stock management: Monitor and restock cleaning and maintenance supplies as needed.

Event support: Assist with setting up rooms for school events or activities.

What We're Looking For:

Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or similar role (preferred).

A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.

A responsible and punctual individual with excellent organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (essential).
