Your new role
As an IT technician, your primary responsibility will be to provide IT support to end users on site at the college, where this will include staff and pupils, as well as support with the delivery of any IT projects being managed by the college. You would be reporting to the IT operations manager and would occasionally be at different sites of the college.
From an IT support perspective, you will support with hardware, software, networking and with specific educational technologies, therefore allowing you to develop your knowledge and skills. This may include the building of hardware, installing and updating of new software, responding to staff IT requests and also the introduction of new technologies. You would also be responsible for the facilitation of on-site exams (software and hardware) and to maintain IT equipment to ensure its efficient operation and performance levels.
This role is to start as soon as possible, initially on a temporary basis which is likely to last at least 1-3 months.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you will possess recent IT support experience where you have worked in a customer-facing role supporting both hardware and software, while providing a high level of customer service. You will be available to start immediately and will also be willing to continue on an ongoing basis. Experience working in the education sector would be beneficial, as well as DBS on the update service.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will be paid a daily rate of between £130 and £140 dependent on experience, whilst having the opportunity to develop your skills through learning new technologies and systems in the education sector. You will be supported by a dedicated Hays Consultant who will continue to support you in finding contract work, and you will also have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position should you be seeking a more permanent role.
