About the role
You will work closely with the Resettlement Team and also the Haringey Rough Sleeping Taskforce, working collaboratively to bridge the gap between both teams.
As an Outreach Officer within two multi-disciplinary teams, you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with people of all ages. You will have extensive knowledge in your specialist area and be able to provide advice, guidance and support people to identify solutions and techniques to help address their needs, make connections and meet their own outcomes.
The post holder will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of housing, health and social care partners to tackle the harms and inequalities faced by refugees, migrant and people seeking asylum who have and are sleeping rough. They will also have a role in contributing data, insights and coordination support into the Rough Sleeping Taskforce and Resettlement Team
As an Outreach Officer, you will carry a small caseload of a maximum of 15 clients who have historic or current experience of rough sleeping and experience multiple disadvantage or exclusion from services and the community.
The Outreach Officer will have a specific focus on supporting Haringey residents that are newly granted refugees who were previously in National Asylum Support Service (NASS) accommodation. The Outreach Officer will be supporting with move on options and sustainment of accommodation for the resident as well as supporting with general integration surrounding healthcare, welfare, immigration and employment.
The role will involve a combination of early outreach and day centre work, attending the Resettlement Welcome Hub and the Mulberry Junction daycentre drop in at least once a week. They will also have a role in supporting Haringey’s broader population of refugees / people seeking asylum who have resettled in the borough, with a focus on supporting with accommodation move on.
The post holder will work closely with partners, including local residents, VCS groups and faith communities, to identify opportunities to support residents needing move on support to integrate. They will also work with partners to optimise community-based resources, recognising that these are already stretched from the perspective of some communities in the borough.
