Description
We are searching for a DoLS Mental Health Assessor to undertake the responsibilities of the AMHP as determined by the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended by the Mental Health Act 2007) and associated legislation, codes of practice and guidance.
Responsibilities
Participate in the AMHP rota and undertake Mental Health Act duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Directorate. Coordinate the process of a Mental Health Act assessment under Part 2 of the Mental Health Act, and where appropriate, make an application for compulsory admission/guardianship.
Qualification – Essential
* GCSE Grade (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
* A professional social work qualification, an occupational therapy qualification, a nursing qualification where the field of practice is mental health or learning disabilities, and a chartered psychologist.
* HCPC Registration
* Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Social Media.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Requirements - Criteria-to be Tested at Shortlisting.
* Demonstrable post-qualifying experience.
* Experience working with people with mental disorders.
* Experience working in a community setting.
* Excellent application of social care values and operating within the social model of disability.
* Experience working positively in a changing environment.
* A good working understanding of the critical aspects of mental health law, cognitive capacity and consent, human rights, children and adults safeguarding and related law, codes of practice, guidance, policies and procedures.
* A critical understanding of the social perspectives of mental disorders.
* A critical understanding of the value base of the AMHP role and the ability to work within it.
* The ability to work assertively and constructively in a multi-disciplinary context.
* The ability to make independent decisions.
* Excellent verbal communication skills.
* The ability to converse easily with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
* Time management and planning skills
* Case recording and report writing skills.
* Team Working Skills.
* Good IT skills, including the use of e-mail and inputting data.
* Understanding of local and national mental health policy developments.

* 5 Years References.
