Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people, and interested in a career in youth justice or social work? This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring Youth Justice Worker to gain practical, hands-on experience working with children in a primary school setting.
Key Responsibilities: Aspiring Youth Justice Worker - Croydon
Provide emotional, behavioural, and pastoral support to children who may be at risk of exclusion, have challenging behaviours, or are dealing with difficult life circumstances.
Work directly with children to develop coping strategies, improve social skills, and manage emotions in both structured and unstructured settings.
Collaborate with the school's SENCO, safeguarding team, and external agencies (such as youth justice services) to develop individualized support plans for at-risk children.
Monitor and track the progress of children's behaviour, attendance, and engagement, providing regular updates to teachers, parents, and relevant support staff.
Deliver targeted interventions focused on restorative justice, positive behaviour reinforcement, and conflict resolution.
Build strong, supportive relationships with children, helping them to develop trust and resilience.
Support the school in maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, promoting a culture of respect and understanding.
Assist with the delivery of social and emotional learning (SEL) programs or small-group interventions.About You: Aspiring Youth Justice Worker - Croydon
Academics are looking for an individual who is committed to supporting young people and is keen to develop their career in the field of youth justice or social work. The ideal candidate will have:
A strong interest in youth justice, social work, or working with vulnerable children and young people.
Experience working with children, particularly those facing behavioural or social challenges (e.g., in a school, youth club, or community setting).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with children, parents, and staff.
A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and positively.
A relevant qualification or experience in social work, criminology, psychology, or youth justice (e.g., degree or volunteer work with young people).
A commitment to promoting inclusion, safeguarding, and positive behaviour management in the school setting.
Knowledge of restorative justice practices and trauma-informed approaches (desirable but not essential).
