Application Requirements: To excel in this role, you’ll need:
• Proven experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, particularly non-verbal pupils.
• A genuine passion for Special Educational Needs and a patient, empathetic approach.
• The ability to implement individual education plans (IEPs) effectively.
• Knowledge of augmentative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton) is highly desirable.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
Key Responsibilities: As a SEN-TA, your responsibilities will include:
• Providing 1:1 support for a non-verbal pupil with ASD, fostering communication and engagement.
• Assisting in developing and delivering tailored learning strategies alongside the SENCO and class teacher.
• Encouraging social interaction and helping the pupil navigate daily classroom activities.
• Promoting a calm, structured environment that supports the pupil’s emotional well-being.
• Liaising with parents, therapists, and external agencies to ensure consistent and effective support.
