Position: Teaching Assistant - SEN
Location: Effingham, Surrey
Start date: January 2025
Salary: £12.31 - £13.16 per hour (£21,995.67 - £23,514.45 actual salary, depending on qualifications) + £1,000 Welcome Bonus*
Hours: 40 hours per week, term time only. Start at 8:15 am and finish at:
Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday: 4:45 pm
Thursday: 5:00 pm
Friday: 4:00 pm
The SEN School
We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at the SEN School, supporting students aged 11–16 with autism and associated behavioural and communication challenges. Some students may have multiple learning difficulties. As part of a bigger trust, the school offers a collaborative environment with a shared commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities
Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies, including PREVENT.
Provide feedback on student behaviour, relationships, and attitudes.
Support positive behaviour, adapting responses to meet students' needs.
Establish trust and help students feel safe and supported in their learning journey.
Promote independence, personal development, and high standards of behaviour.
Implement and adjust learning activities in collaboration with the teacher.
Organize resources to support lessons and assist with a broad and balanced curriculum.
Adapt teaching methods to meet each pupil’s individual needs and potential.
As with many SEN roles, flexibility is essential. Responsibilities may vary, and you will be expected to contribute to the school’s overall objectives when needed.
Requirements
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
Experience working with SEN in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
A Level 2 or higher qualification in Support Work for Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent) is desirable.
GCSEs (Grade 4 or above) in Maths and English are essential.
A strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
Knowledge or experience of working with pupils with SEN, SEMH, or ASD.
A commitment to placing the child first and treating them as an individual.
Positivity, creativity, and the ability to support behavioural approaches, including physical intervention (Team Teach accredited).
Competence in completing reports accurately and on time.
