Contract Desktop Support Engineer (6-Month Role)

Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Desktop Support Engineer for a 6-month contract to provide critical IT support at a thriving educational institution. This role requires on-site presence five days a week, with inter-campus travel as needed. The successful candidate will step into a dynamic environment, addressing immediate IT support needs while contributing to ongoing and upcoming IT projects.

Key Details:

* Contract Duration: 6 months (potential for extension or transition to permanent role)

* Location: On-site with inter-campus travel

* Start Date: Immediate start preferred

* Driver’s License: Required, with access to a personal vehicle

* DBS Check: Streamlined process with enhanced risk assessment for fast onboarding

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide second-line IT support, focusing on break-fix tasks and end-user support.

* Assist in ongoing IT projects such as:

* Large-scale laptop rollout initiatives

* Intranet development

* Google Workspace migrations

* Microsoft Teams deployments

* Setup of new IT suites

* Utilize remote management tools and basic scripting to manage and resolve issues.

* Ensure timely resolution of technical issues, minimizing downtime and disruptions.

* Work collaboratively with the IT team to implement long-term strategies aimed at reducing break-fix workload and enhancing service delivery.

Required Skills and Experience:

* Proven experience in second-line IT support roles, with strong troubleshooting and break-fix capabilities.

* Proficiency with:

* Mac and AV systems (for specific roles)

* InTune for device management (preferred over SCCM)

* Remote management tools and basic scripting knowledge

* Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

* A full, valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for inter-campus travel.

Additional Information:

* Interviews will prioritize face-to-face formats with 45-minute slots available most afternoons between 1-3 PM.
