To form part of Sefton’s Youth Justice Service which works in partnership with other services. You will be committed to working together with partners to help children in Sefton thrive and to keep them safe. You will support the service to prevent children from entering the criminal justice system, but when they do you will strive to help them learn, make positive changes and build a more promising future. You will ensure children are seen as children above anything else, listen to them and understand their individual needs and provide them with the best opportunity to succeed by drawing upon the full resources of our local partnership. You will be responsible for safeguarding, promoting the welfare of child and young person, managing risk and vulnerability whilst ensuring that the public are protected and the sentence is served, ensuring the reputation of the Department and Council is preserved. Hybrid working, however expectation office based 3 days per week minimum. Office based in Bootle, Merseyside.

Job Summary
As a Youth Justice Case Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting young individuals who are involved in the justice system. By working collaboratively with community resources, families, and other stakeholders, you will help address the underlying causes of offending behavior, reduce recidivism, and promote the successful rehabilitation and reintegration of youth into the community.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management
* Manage a caseload of youth involved in the justice system, ensuring each case is handled with care, confidentiality, and professionalism.
* Conduct thorough assessments of the youth’s needs, risks, and strengths to develop individualized case plans.
* Provide consistent monitoring and support to ensure compliance with legal requirements and court orders.
Advocacy and Support
* Advocate for the rights and needs of youth, ensuring they have access to appropriate resources and services.
* Develop and maintain trusting relationships with youth and their families, fostering open communication.
* Facilitate access to education, employment, housing, mental health, and other community-based resources.
Collaboration and Coordination
* Work closely with probation officers, social workers, schools, legal representatives, and community organizations to deliver integrated support.
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, providing updates and feedback on case progress.
* Act as a liaison between the justice system and the youth, ensuring clear communication and understanding of legal processes.
Program Implementation
* Deliver evidence-based intervention programs aimed at addressing offending behavior, improving decision-making skills, and promoting pro-social behavior.
* Facilitate group sessions or workshops, where appropriate, to enhance life skills and personal development.
Reporting and Documentation
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, documenting all interactions, assessments, and progress notes.
* Prepare detailed reports for courts, probation officers, and other relevant stakeholders as required.
* Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable legal frameworks.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* A degree or diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, or a related field.
* Experience working with at-risk youth, preferably within the justice system or similar environments.
Skills and Competencies
* Strong understanding of the youth justice system, including relevant legislation and diversion programs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
* Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Additional Requirements
* Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
* Clearance of a background check and/or working with vulnerable persons screening.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, if necessary.
* Enhanced DBS & barred list check (child and adult)
