TimePlan Education are recruiting on behalf of an outstanding school in Wandsworth, seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pathway Support Mentor to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who require additional support to overcome barriers to learning, improve their mental health and well-being, and achieve success in education.
This role is due to commence in January, with interviews and trial days being held immediately. Working hours will be Monday to Friday, 8:20 am - 4:00 pm.
As a Pathway Support Mentor, you will work closely with the Pathway Curriculum Coordinator (PCC), SEND, Pastoral, and Safeguarding teams to address the needs of students. Your role will be integral in providing tailored interventions and support, creating a positive and nurturing environment to enable student progress.
Key Responsibilities
Student Assessment and Monitoring:Gather and analyse information about students from various sources, including school files, SIMS, and external agencies.
Conduct assessments for students returning after long absences, exclusions, or transitions from other provisions.
Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and track outcomes using school systems.
Day-to-Day Management of the Pathway Centre:Maintain a smooth, orderly, and inclusive environment for students in the Centre.
Liaise with teachers to organise appropriate work for students.
Mentor students on an ad hoc basis and oversee data entry and paperwork.
Mentoring and Group Work:Develop mentoring relationships with individual students and provide 1:1 sessions tailored to their specific needs.
Plan and deliver group sessions on topics such as Anger Management, Social Skills, and Improving Attendance.
Liaison and Collaboration:Maintain regular communication with families/carers, providing updates on student progress.
Work closely with professionals, including the school nurse, social services, Education Welfare, and external agencies, to support students effectively.
Deputise for the DMS (Designated Member of Staff) in key meetings, such as TAC (Team Around the Child) meetings.
Restorative and Preventative Work:Conduct restorative justice meetings to resolve issues and provide feedback to SLT and pastoral teams.
Assist with gathering incident reports and statements as required.
Professional Development and School Involvement:Attend Local Authority training and network with other Pathway Support Mentors.
Actively participate in school activities, including assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular initiatives.

Organised and proactive, with excellent communication skills.
Experienced in working with vulnerable students or those requiring additional support (experience in education or related fields is desirable).
Committed to ongoing professional development and contributing to the school community.
