The Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Store person working for a top tier site under the control of major accident hazard regulations. The stores provide maintenance departments with materials and assets in order to keep the site operating.
The role
As a Store person, you will work alongside a Stock Controller, to manage work movements and to cover for the relevant Stock controller once trained in the original Stores role. You will identify low stock levels and store and pick items delivered across site by the team. The role is critical to site operations.
This role has been deemed inside IR35
Duration:1 year possibly longer.
Rate: £17.24 per hour
Your duties and responsibilities will be
As the Store person, you will be expected to retain a good customer focus during the interaction with operations and engineering staff.
Achieving – information seeking, gathering information from key sources to assist problem solving.
Engineering stock items have been identified by the Asset Managers as critical to support the business needs to achieve manufacturing targets by minimising downtime associated with non-availability or long lead items. Loss of supply of materials or services providers could lead to major business disruption.Uphold SHE standards within the Stores team.
Operate to the highest standards of safety.
Support all activities in compliance with all stores ISO9002 Quality and ISO14001 Environmental accreditation.
Ensure manual handling and all materials movement activities are carried out in a safe manner.
Carry out regular safety equipment checks on the equipment and the vehicles used by the team.
Learn the Stock Controller role for cover in the event of sickness and holidays.
Ensure Stock levels are managed to ensure items are not exhausted.Stores and Inventory activities
Unload and inspect materials including packaging at goods inward.
Locate inventory items in the appropriate place.
Load material onto the vehicles in a safe and secure manner for transportation.
Operate FLT’s and high rise picking trucks for material movements.
Operate the 20 tonne overhead crane in the Heavy Bay and sling larger loads.
Manage items in the Light bay for delivery across the Site.ERP Systems
Support the stores processes and facilities to meet the agreed performance targets for SHE, costs and service levels.
Operate computer systems at the Stores to maintain full accuracy and audit traceability in all work.
Comply with all processes and systems.The stores spares profile is the site insurance policy in support of maintenance activities and requires tight stock control whilst optimising the associated impact on working capital.
You will have the following qualifications & experience
Educated to GCSE level standard or equivalent.
Excellent knowledge of stores operations.
Experience working in an Engineering Stores environment within the Chemical Industry would be preferable.
Good knowledge of SHE implications in a Stores environment.
Good level of self-confidence with peers.
Organisational skills.
Basic IT Skills.
Attention to detail, thoroughness, seeking completeness and accuracy.

Can demonstrate an ability to understand technical engineering issues.
FLT licence would be advantageous but not essential as training can be provided.The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a chemical site. These can include, chemical burns, trips and falls, overexertion, cuts and scrapes, chemical exposure, inhalation of chemicals and confined spaces. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
