As Tutor, you will be responsible for teaching Functional Skills Maths/English and Pre-Vocational Qualifications to students aged 16-19 who speak English as second language.
The job specifics are:
Delivery
* Participate in the initial assessment, enrolment and induction of new learners
* Develop individual learning plans, agreeing relevant and challenging learning goals and targets with learners
* Plan and deliver lessons, workshops and activities that inspire and challenge all learners and meet their different needs, and that are aligned with qualification and internal frameworks
* Support learners to achieve their learning goals, both in and between lessons
* Participate in organising, supporting and leading work experience opportunities
* Regularly review progress with learners related to their qualification, personal, social and employability skills targets
* Identify learners’ support and additional learning needs and be proactive in providing effective support, including making reasonable adjustments for learners with special educational needs and/or behavioural, emotional and social needs
* Invigilate exams, undertake formal assessments, and complete all associated administration
* Undertake assessment and/or moderation of exams for specified qualifications
* Support other team members, including covering classes and sharing resources as required
* Liaise with learners’ guardians and other professionals regarding progress, as appropriate
* Prepare for and participate in PEPs where required
Quality
* Be proactive in ensuring all learners achieve qualifications within agreed timescales
* Monitor, and implement interventions to improve, learner attendance, retention, participation and progress
* Achieve minimum key performance indicator targets as determined by managers
* Remain abreast of quality standards expected within the sector, including Ofsted’s FE and Skills framework
* Regularly record feedback about learners on individual learning plans
* Develop high quality resources to enable successful delivery of learning programmes and qualifications
* Manage lessons to enable learners to provide feedback on their own learning
* Maintain clear, concise, factual, accurate and timely records
* Regularly review learner feedback
* Participate in the annual self-assessment process as requested
Development
* Be proactive in leading your own continual professional development, and participate in development opportunities aligned with your personal development plan
* Participate in internal learning forums and be proactive in sharing good practice with colleagues
* Remain abreast of developments within the FE sector and subject areas being taught
Person specification
Essential
· Relevant Cert Ed or appropriate Basic Skills Teaching Qualification eg. C&G
· Ability to teach across a range of pre-vocational qualifications up to Level 2
· Able to develop and track learners progress through individual learning plans
· Understands the importance of and is able to meet targets for learner retention and achievement
· Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
· Technical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office
· Ability to maintain accurate records and to follow agreed procedures
Desirable
· Up to date awareness of national developments in Further Education
· Experience of working on a roll on-roll off programme
· A flexible approach
