Job Description

Our client, a prominent entity within the Defence & Security sector, specifically in the Defence discipline, is seeking a Principal Engineer - Human Factors (Safety) to join their Submarines business unit on a contract basis. This position is based in Barrow with hybrid arrangements allowing for remote work as needed. The duration of the contract is six months and will require a security clearance at the SC level.

Key Responsibilities:

Writing human factors (HF) integration proposals

Supervising junior personnel in safety action assessments

Conducting task analyses

Understanding and applying processes similar to those at AWE and Sellafield

Coaching junior team members

Job Requirements:

Background in human factors safety

Experience working in hazardous environments

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage and supervise junior staff

Excellent communication and coaching abilities

Understanding of defence and security industry standards and regulations

Capability to work both remotely and on-site as required
